Updates

Life in the Pate Household these days has been about trying to keep up. Having our house on the market has been a lot of work. As one of my friends put it, "Living clean is hard!" And with a toddler and two dogs, I believe it. However, despite our best attempts to keep our home show-ready, we recently received a surprising call from our realtor.

It appears that there are a record number of foreclosures and short-sales in our area. As a result, our realtor has actually advised us to pull our home off the market until the spring. In our community alone, there are over 60 foreclosures - not to mention all the new construction homes and resales. The only lookers we had ended up going with a foreclosure that was twice our size for the same amount of money. With the housing market being over saturated right now, it appears that our house cannot compete with the houses that are priced way below market value. On one hand we looked forward to a new adventure. However, we feel lucky that we are not in the position where we have to sell right now. So pretty soon, the house will come off the market. And hopefully things will be better in the spring!

In other news, Liam recently moved up to his next toddler class, which has resulted in lots of new changes. He gets to do exciting new things like splash day, petting zoos, and lots of fun hands-on classes and activities. He comes home and has all these developed "talents." You will be tickled to know that Liam dances exactly like his Daddy. Although it is much cuter (and acceptable) from a baby. We had some concerns on how he would transition to his new class where they are required to wear shoes (all the time) and take naps on cots. It is a relief to both me and Eric that Liam is adjusting so well.

For obvious reasons I will be pretty busy with work until the holidays. Eric is also pleasantly busy with work. We are just trying to get through this very long, very hot, very clean summer!

Our house has been on the market for the past month also and we have had a total of 2 people look at it! I think we will be taking ours off at the end of this month too. The market is just not there!
