Can you help a sister out?

You know how at some point we all think about fulfilling that lifelong passion that stays hidden in the recesses of our mind?  But it is always easier to make excuses as to why it hasn't happened yet.  Why we can't find the time.  Or the money. Or it is just too easy to maintain the status quo.  And yet some people take that leap.  They sail away from the safe harbor.  It has to be the scariest thing in the entire world.  For some people, it is to pursue a career that they know is risky, but for which they have great passion.  For others, it is about taking a path separate from the one that has been laid out for them (case in point: my time in law school).

My best friend, Stephanie, has just taken that leap by fulfilling a lifelong dream she has had to write a series of children's books.  This is something that she has been working on for a very long time.  Not like Stephanie Myers of Twilight fame who just woke up one day and decided to right a book.  BTW, I love me some Twilight so don't take my comment out of context.  The point is that, for many aspiring writers, it doesn't come so easy.  There are drafts upon drafts.  Red line edits and rewrites.  Sending out countless copies to editors in the hope that they will see your story for what it is.

I am not just saying this because (a) Stephanie is my best friend, or (b) because I would still believe in her even if she had written a real stinker, but rather because (c) this is a heck of a great children's story.  I am sure that many of you parents will agree, that there are a lot of kid's books out there that ...leave much to be desired.  But Steph's story is a really wonderful tale.

I should also mention that I might be a tiny bit partial because (a) she is my best friend and (b) she has named several of the characters after my baby (William Edward).  Any how, over the years I have supported a great many of my friends endeavors (i.e. buying baskets that they have woven, music that they have produced, getting my hair cut from those trying for their beauty license, etc.).  Now I am asking those of you who can, to support my friend and her dream.

The book "Grandma's Pancake's: A Knight's Adventure," can be purchased on Amazon.com and can be downloaded onto a Kindle, i-Pod-ad-phone, a PC, etc.  I am super challenged when it comes to technology and I downloaded it onto my computer in less than 3 minutes.  As a super cool side note, I didn't know that you can download a free Kindle reader onto your computer.  Can I get a what-what? The cost for her book is only $5 and a percentage of the proceeds go to charity.  Let's help several people achieve their dreams!

Steph has also convinced me that I need to blog more.  So I am taking her up on a challenge and will be blogging 30 posts in the next 30 days.  Of course it won't be anything particularly interesting, but some of my favorite blogs that I read, like my friend Stephanie and Katie, just write about every day life. So until tomorrow!
