This past weekend was soooo much fun. But entirely too short. As you can imagine, doing what I do for a living, last week was a
very long week. So when Friday night came around, I was all too happy to spend the weekend loving on my boys. On Saturday, I had to take Cooper to the vet. Once I got home, Liam and I headed to Walmart while Eric did yard work. I was the clear winner in that battle. Especially because the Walmart trip was for the sole purpose of finding Liam more outdoor toys. He is still very much obsessed with being outside. His new obsession is a pin-wheel that blows in the wind. In fact a few days last week he tried to take it to school and completely melted down when I wouldn't let him. In my defense, I could have seen it ending very badly for an unassuming child who tried to take it from Liam. But I digress.
So we went off to Walmart to find some new cheap goodies. We got a new beach ball, a bubble bucket with several wands, and a Little Tykes water sprinkler. When we got home, several neighborhood kids came over and we all played with the new toys, until the ball exploded....Eric may or may not have, hit the ground when the ball exploded. I think it is a homage to our time living in Albuquerque to hit the ground when you hear a loud pop. Ha!
This weekend we also had the opportunity to catch up with some friends, Janelle and Adam, who just moved back to the States after living in the Netherlands for the past few years. They are on their way to Georgia to begin their new life, and we were lucky enough to get to hang out with them while they were passing through town. We also got to see our friends, Sasha and Bobby, at the same time, so it was great to catch up with people that you don't get to see that often. They have a pool at their house, and we hadn't gone over with the intention of swimming, but once Liam caught sight of the pool, we acquiesced to his cries. They have this great child proof screen that screens in the porch, and serves as a barrier to the pool. Once it went up, Liam was quick to make his way into the pool. Fortunately, with the number of kids around, there was a spare bathing suit around. We continue to learn that Liam has no fear. Truth be told, it is sort of a good thing for kids to have some level of fear. Especially of the water. No such luck there. Eric actually had to put on some swim trunks and monitor Liam so that he didn't get into trouble. Liam loved the pool and I think he is going to be drawn to the water just like his Daddy. He really fought us when we finally pulled him out.
Today after church and a nap (for Liam
and Mommy), we invited the twins over to play with Liam's new sprinkler toy. It was a lot of fun to watch him tearing around the backyard, getting wet, yelling "Weeeeeee!" It is still a little cool (upper 80s) to be wet outside for long periods of time, so we soon brought the kids inside. Again, Liam kicked and screamed, standing at the windows and banging his little fist to go back outside. I have a feeling it is going to be a long summer.
Finally, I made green chile chicken enchiladas, spanish rice, black beans and brownies to take over to my friend, Lacey and her husband, Kevin. I have known Lacey since college and she lives in a nearby town. Last week she also gave birth to her first babies, identical twin girls named Callie and Leah. They were so sweet and small, all curled up and loving on each other! It was so great to catch up with so many of our friends this weekend. While I left my camera at home for a good portion of this weekends activities, I thought I would post a few pics of our time outdoors today. Have a great week!

lol. Oh Eric... I am glad you had such a great weekend!
HA!! Like father, like son =)
Sam and Holly loved this post! They giggled at the pictures of Liam, with full-out laughter at the picture of Uncle Eric! Do we recognize Liam's swim trunks? I'm thinking they look familiar.
